To Elope Or Not To Elope
I always thought that eloping was something that only happened in romance novels or movies. Stuff of fantasy, not reality. Are there people who are actually that brave to run away, leaving behind everything that they are familiar and hold dear to just for the name of love? All that you have after you run away together is each other. What if that falls apart? What then?I was making dentures (nothing new there) and everybody was bored. Therefore, my prosthetics demonstrator decided to spice things up by telling us that when he was a strapping young whippersnapper he had eloped with his girlfriend.
Us: WHAT?
Him: Yes, it's true.
Us: Tell us!!
Apparently his girlfriend was Italian and her parents wanted her to marry an respectable Italian boy, not some Australian boy who was serving in the army and drove around in a dilapidated jeep. Naturally he was told to bugger off. There was only one thing his girlfriend could do and she did it - she eloped with him. Because of that she was ex-communicated from the family for a year - until she gave birth to a daughter.
It got me thinking. Here was this old man who was just a demonstrator to me - a person we go to just to correct what mistakes we're making. Yet in another time and place, he was a tragic romantic hero of a love story.
What's next? My patient used to be a superstar?
3 slices bread & kaya = 600 calories
3 caramel slices = 450 calories
2 peanut butter cups = 80 calories
1 slice bread & butter = 200 calories
1 plate fried rice = 600 calories
Total = 1930 calories (this is starting to get embarassing)

Aha...that's why you never really know someone until...well...they tell you stories. Then again...who said romanticism was dead?

somehow I always believe in winning both sides..Sigh...too bad my ex didnt think like wise. She beileved in choice between A and B...and she chose the one that hurt me. Well as for me, there is always choice C...the path may be difficult, but heck if its could be worth it, why not just journey it...
