Gingerbread Houses

I love gingerbread houses. It just looks so charming... a small house that is entirely edible. Makes me think of Enid Blyton books where the characters go to the Land of Goodies and break off bits and pieces off the houses there....or Hansel And Gretel when they go into the woods and eat the witches' house.

Anyway, a friend of mine went to a baking competition and sent me these photos of these gingerbread houses that the contestants made. Thanks loads! Here they are and I think they're very very pretty!

First things first. This is the one my friend made for the competition. I love the thing on the right, which he told me was a monument of sorts. Like the way the snow is on the roof too. Hehe...

Hmm....don't really like this one much somehow. I think they're supposed to be the Three Little Pigs and in this case they're living in a gingerbread house instead of one made of straw, sticks or bricks.

No particular thoughts on this one.

I love this one it's so fairytale-like and whimsical!!!!!! The toadstool!! *sigh*

Saved my favourite one for last. It's kind of small and not really outrageously complex or anything, but I love the roof of the house and the idea of Little Red Riding Hood going to presumably what is the grandmother's house. Not sure why the wolf is waiting outside though.

All in all, it was a pleasure to look at. I only wish I was there in person to see it for myself.
